The Cooper, Hay, Van Lente Group is a West Michigan based jazz trio which formed in 2005 and features a unique instrumentation of vibes, marimba, keyboards and drums. The group has been captivating audiences with their lively versions of jazz standards and original compositions. Influenced by swing, fusion, latin and world music styles, the trio’s sound has been described as “intense and moving, with a lightness that is very listenable.”

In the space of four months in 2006, this native of Othello, WA won first prize in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition, first place in the Vendome Prize International Competion in Lisbon, and was awarded the Max I. Allen Fellowship of the American Pianists Association. A graduate of The Juilliard School, his recital program includes the Bach/Liszt Prelude and Fugue in A Minor; Mendelssohn’s Sonata in A minor; Charles Griffes’ Fantasy Pieces, Op. 6; and Sonata, Op. 26 by Samuel Barber.
