The Gilmore’s Rising Stars Recital Series — Haochen Zhang, piano
The Gilmore
Sunday, December 5, 2010
4p.m.
Wellspring Theater, Epic Center
Joint Gold Medalist of the Thirtheenth Van Cliburn Competition, Chinese pianist Haochen Zhang gave his debut recital at age five, performing the comple Bach Two-Part Inventions with sonatas by Haydn and Mozart. His orchestral debut came a year later, and he hasn't slowed down yet.
The Gilmore Rising Stars Recital Series brings some of the best young international pianists to the intimate setting of the Wellspring Theater at the Epic Center in downtown Kalamazoo. For audiences with a special love of music, particularly keyboard music, the discovery of these wonderful new talents — as well as the fact that their artistry can be enjoyed now, before they become “big stars” — makes this series particularly compelling. This is a unique opportunity to witness legends in the making.
