The Gilmore
Sunday, October 24, 2010
4p.m.
Wellspring Theater, Epic Center
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Aaron Diehl is a Juilliard School of Music graduate, where his teachers included Kenny Barron and Eric Reed. He has performed with the Wynton Marsalis Septet, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, among others, and has been featured on Marian McPartland’s NPR program, Piano Jazz. He released his first CD as a leader, Mozart Jazz, in 2006.
The Gilmore Rising Stars Recital Series brings some of the best young international pianists to the intimate setting of the Wellspring Theater at the Epic Center in downtown Kalamazoo. For audiences with a special love of music, particularly keyboard music, the discovery of these wonderful new talents — as well as the fact that their artistry can be enjoyed now, before they become “big stars” — makes this series particularly compelling. This is a unique opportunity to witness legends in the making.
